Dale City Mission Church

On May 24, 1992, Rev. Quincy Ponder was appointed to organize a Christain Mission in Dale City, VA. by Bishop Clinton Hoggard at the 163rd Annual Session of the Philadelphia and Baltimore Conference.

Rev. Ponder left his church home, Metropolitan Wesley AME Zion in Washington, D C. First worship service was held at Dale City Recreation Center and 25 people were in attendance. Christmas 1992 the church gave 21 boxes food to homeless.
1994 the church was moved into small church building with 3 ½ acres of land and changed the name to New Covenant AME Zion church. August 30, 2000 the church was served notice that state was building four lane highway and the church and 1 1/2 acres were taken by the State.

2000 through 2007 New Covenant AME Zion Church was a thriving and growing church. It became very visible in the Dale City area by participating in parades, health fairs and other community events. The outreach ministry was very visible in Dale City / Woodbridge. The church grew over 100 members during Pastor Ponder’s tenure.

2008 through 2013 the church met with highs and lows in ministry. The church loss most of it’s members. In 2013 moved to Fredericksburg, VA.
2017 Pastor Ponder retired as pastor of New Covenant AME Zion Church. During annual conference, Bishop W. Darin Moore appointed Rev. Brenda S Clark as pastor of new Covenant. Rev. Brenda S Clark is the current pastor.
